My current system is using a combination of the Holiday Coro 3ch DMX modules, and Ray's 27ch DMX controller. I would like to replace the Holiday Coro 3ch controllers to a multi channel DMX controller. How does the REN 48LSD compare to the two controllers I'm using now. If I understand what the Ren 48LSD does is it would be simialier to Rays 27ch board (if the REN board was flashed with the DMX firmware), except I would get 12 RGB DMX ports as opposed to 7 from Ray's board. And if I used multiple 48LSD RGB breakout boards I could actually get more than 12 RGB Channels from the single 48 board?
What are the major differences or reasons why I would use Ray's board as opposed to the REN 48 if I am sending standard DMX protocol? I also assume that if I was supplying 12v DC to both inputs I would want to install the 5v regulator parts on the board and that would supply the power to the REN board as well as 12v output to the RGB outputs.
