This is not a full how to or anything of that sort .
This is just how i view Hls using the kiss method .
Get the basics down and the rest of Hls will be smooth sailing to use .
Compare Hls to a formula 1 vehicle with a scarey engine under the hood .
we just want to drive the vehicle not repair it :) lol
Here is a few tips for new users that may help .
View Hls as a universe manager this will keep things simple .
when you add your channels and elements to hls's channel manager keep in mind your layout .
Planning your layout with universe orientation in mind is must and will keep an ez order.
Adding pixel planes will further reduces channel level management for large elements .
you can name each channel or element for further definition and management.
Work groups is the second line of management , by defininig element channels and uniquely naming each group.
loading work groups into the grid - this is where the fun begins - have fun with this part !
Remember the esc key is your friend
The back end of hls Preview and Output
Now that you have defined all your channels asigned their respective universes and work groups
you want to blink something .
this is where your skills pay off with universe thinking rather than channel level thinking.
setup your com port if using that form of communication
select your nic if using this form of connection and communication
finally select your output method based on universe transport and protocol.
and check enable to set active .
Hls will do the magic to take care of the channel level control You just need to take care of organizing your channels and universes at the front end of hls .
I hope this will help some of you see Hls from a wider perspective and enable you easier use of this great software .
Cheers
Richard
