Under my soffits I put up a row of red / green / warm white (sun white) C9 retro LEDs (75 each) spread out across 27 channels (DirkCheapSSRs). I like the look but I do need to do another roof line of the same length and looking at the cost I'm nearing $300. That's just for the bulbs not counting the other parts or the DirkCheapSSRs / controller I'll need.
I figure PixBulbs are probably the better option for the cost. Are the red / green colors from the PixaBulbs comparable to the "norm" LED Red and Green colors? I know white will have that bluish tint. I was thinking I could just mix the Pixabulbs with the Warm White C9s putting both up together. Or would that be crazy (funny question here probably)?
For the cost of three 50ct pixabulb strings with 6 inch spacing that would cover both roofs (150 total 75 per roof). Building a E682 myself and adding in a couple power supplies I'm a bit over $300 but probably still less than the Retro LEDs. I was already planning on a E682 for another thing I wanted to do with some WS2811 square pixels and have room for expansion.
It seems like a no brainer. Am I on the right track here or will the pixels just look odd compared to the rest of the display? The rest of my display is also R/G/WW (Warm White) as well. I guess I asked that question twice.
I'm wondering if I'm missing something else with the costs? I have plenty of network gear too. That's not a problem for me...
Thanks!
Jason
